How to add a “Book a table” button to your restaurant’s WordPress website

A guest has found your menu and wants a table for Saturday. Here’s how to take them straight to your booking page using the built-in WordPress button. No booking plugin required.

2. Put the button where guests decide to book

Imagine The Copper Ladle, a neighbourhood bistro. Its homepage already has a “Read our menu” link. The owner puts “Book a table” beside it. On the menu page, there’s another button after the food and opening hours.

  1. Open the page in the WordPress block editor. If there’s already a booking button, select it and replace its link.
  2. For a new button, select +, search for Buttons and insert the block. Type Book a table on the button.
  3. Select the button, choose the Link icon, paste your restaurant’s booking address and press Enter. Keeping it in the same tab lets guests use Back to return to your menu.
  4. Preview at phone width. Make the text easy to read against the background and give the button room to tap. Save or publish when you’re ready to take bookings.

Have a web designer? Send them your booking link, the words “Book a table”, and the name of the page where you want the button. WordPress’s illustrated button instructions.

3. Check it as a guest

Open your published website in a private browser tab on your phone. Tap the button. Check the restaurant name and that you can choose a party size and date. There’s no need to submit a real booking. On a computer, press Tab until the button is visibly focused, then Enter to open it.

Seeing the practice restaurant or a sign-in screen? Replace the button’s address with the one from your own venue’s Booking page settings. The owner dashboard and the demo link are different from your public booking page.

Prefer a form on the page? Find your embed code under Share. A normal link is usually the easiest starting point on a phone, and it still works on WordPress plans that restrict embeds. WordPress embed guidance.
